Southwestern Oasis
Color, color, color. Every year we transform this backyard with pool into a fairy land of color with hundreds of annuals. We plant in mid May and by the beginning of July it’s a jungle of colorful annuals. The client likes intense, hot colors, so we give her a garden full of eye candy.
You would never know this is a southwestern garden with the Cana lilies giving this garden bed a tropical feeling. You can do just about anything with annuals.
Annual daisies with the boulder and grass make an interesting combination.
The intense pallet of annuals frames the Earth Mother sculpture.
The Zinnias and Dahlias steal the show in the back of the bed with the bird bath nestled within the flowers.
The boulders installed in the flagstone patio helps break up a large area of hardscape. Add some flowers to soften the edges and add color and you’ve got a great combination.
Annuals can be mixed in with perennials quite nicely. The coleus adds a touch of color among the other textures of perennials.
